Madeline Island Wilderness Preserve just released a new website, which I was privileged to design. The Madeline Island Wilderness Preserve is a non-profit land trust dedicated to the protection and preservation of natural areas on Madeline Island. The extensive lands preserved contain trails on the south and north ends of the island that are open to the public for hiking and skiing. Be sure to take advantage when you are on the island!
Madeline Island is adjacent to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore on the South Shore of Lake Superior in Wisconsin, and is the only one of the Apostle Islands with lands open to private ownership. The MIWP was formed in 1987 and is one of the oldest and most successful land trusts in the State of Wisconsin.
MIWP is dedicated to education and advocacy, and in addition to their preservation projects, they sponsors wonderful hikes and events during the "season" on Madeline Island. Check out their calendar and events listings! And be sure to watch for their entry in the 4th of July parade on Madeline Island, one of the best hometown parades in the country!
